Today marks the first day of an entire week of events categorized as one of the most celebrated traditions at Ohio University, OU Homecoming.
OU Homecoming is all about celebrating Bobcat pride and giving the alumni a chance to relive their college experience for a weekend. This week is known as one of the most exciting events of the year for current and former OU students.
OU Homecoming is so popular, that a Twitter account was created in honor of the event. Follow @OUHC2013 to get more information and details about this year’s “OUHC.”
Ohio University students, alumni, and organizations on campus have been tweeting non-stop at “OUHC2013” for the past two days, sharing their excitement about this weekend’s festivities.
Ellen Mock, OU alumni writes, “5 days, #OUHC2013, I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas.”
Some of the highlights of this weekend include:
Paint the Town Green: Ohio University’s Student Alumni Board has joined together with local businesses and organizations on campus to collect canned food for the Athens Food Pantry. Last year they collected about 2,000 cans, and this year their goal is to collect even more! Keep your eyes peeled for collection sites on campus, so that you can participate in painting the town green!
Homecoming Parade: The annual Homecoming parade, hosted by UPC will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 12th. People from the University and the Athens community will take part in the parade, which will include banners, and floats that represent this year’s theme, OUr Past, OUr Present, and OUr future.
Homecoming Football Game: Come watch the Bobcat Football team battle it out against Central Michigan on Saturday, October 12th at 2:00 p.m. Click here to get tickets!
